Halestone is a single weather-sealed unit built for rural cross-intersections where a stop sign stands without an active warning. The mast-top head combines radar and passive infrared to classify approaching traffic on the cross-street; when a vehicle enters the known blind spot on the conflicting approach, the device fires an LED halo around the perimeter of the existing MUTCD stop sign, with a flashing amber chevron strip below it as a high-contrast firing cue.
Detection, classification, and the halo trigger all run at the edge — no cellular backhaul, no plate capture, no identifying imagery off the unit. The existing sign stays in place; the device is a clip-on retrofit rated for county and state roadside conditions.
